The 50 Convertible carries on a proud lineage. Viking delivered nearly 200 boats across two previous generations of 50s, solidifying its reputation as the industry leader. Introduced in the 1990s, the first-generation 50 was one of Viking’s most successful models, with 142 boats built during a challenging era that included the Luxury Tax. The second generation launched in 2008 and continued that tradition with 42 boats delivered. Today, the newest 50 builds on this legacy, embodying Viking’s relentless commitment to innovation, performance and craftsmanship.

Design and Construction

The 50 Convertible shares many design cues with Viking’s latest flagships: a flush foredeck for increased safety; a modified upper chine and aggressive strakes for a dry, stable ride; and recessed salon windows with signature radiused perimeters. Sleek feature lines along the hull and deckhouse emphasize the yacht’s powerful profile.

The hull, tankage and structural bulkheads are resin-infused to optimize strength and reduce weight, while Light Resin Transfer Molding and carbon fiber reinforcements further elevate build quality. Specialized materials and advanced construction techniques ensure the 50 delivers exceptional performance, durability and world-class fit and finish.

Flybridge and Cockpit

The flybridge features a streamlined walk-around center console with a recessed black acrylic dash housing twin 22-inch multifunction displays (MFDs). A forward lounge with integrated armrests, drink holders and storage, plus port and starboard bench seating, offers guests a comfortable command center experience. A refrigerated drink box sits conveniently to starboard of the helm.

In the business end, the 131-square-foot cockpit is built for serious sportfishing and casual cruising alike. Anglers will appreciate the refrigerated in-deck fishboxes, a live well/fishbox in the transom, a Seakeeper-ready lazarette, and flush-mounted rod holders. Mezzanine seating offers tackle and cooler storage, along with a freezer under the lounge. The cockpit also features a transom door with lift gate, recessed cleats with corner hawsepipes, and plenty of toe-kick space for fighting fish.

Accommodations

Step inside, and you'll discover a bright, open-concept salon appointed in stunning horizontal-grain walnut (available in high-gloss or satin finish). An L-shaped lounge wraps around a walnut cocktail table to port, with a raised dinette offering panoramic views and clever rod storage below. A 43-inch HD TV is mounted on the forward bulkhead for ideal viewing.

The galley features a peninsula-style countertop with a standard icemaker, stainless steel sink, four-burner Miele cooktop, microwave/convection oven, and undercounter refrigerator and freezer drawers. Thoughtful touches include LED overhead lighting and abundant cabinet storage.

Below, the 50 offers three staterooms and two full heads. The master stateroom is fitted with a queen walkaround berth, 32-inch HD TV and private ensuite head. A spacious forward guest stateroom can be configured with a queen berth or a crossover double/single layout. A starboard-side guest stateroom with upper and lower bunks shares access to the second head. Every room is designed for maximum comfort and storage.

Powered by standard 1000 MHP MAN V8 engines – with an option for 1200 MHP upgrades – the Viking 50 delivers exceptional speed, handling and range. Optimus electronic power steering ensures precise maneuverability, whether you're chasing gamefish offshore or cruising the coast. The 50’s optimized length-to-beam ratio, honed through owner feedback and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, provides a soft, dry ride even in challenging conditions.

Viking’s trademark attention to engineering excellence is evident in the 50’s engineroom: Resin-infused stringers with aluminum reinforcements, meticulous component installations, composite seacocks, and superior systems access are all standard. A 21.5kW generator powers the ship’s systems, with dedicated pumps for each seawater-fed application (AC, livewells, Seakeeper, etc.). Optional equipment includes ElectroSea Clearline systems, omni-directional sonar, and onboard ice and water makers.
